Being a mum, dad or carer is not always easy and parenting can be both challenging and rewarding. Bulkington Children's Centre offers families with young children (0-5 years) a range of services to support them to get the best out of family life.
‘Outreach Family Support'
Our family workers also offer 1-to-1 support to families to help ease the stress of family life. The family workers will be available every week to provide a listening ear for parents, as well as practical advice, and information on a wide range of topics. We can arrange a time when you can meet with the family workers. This could be at the Children's Centre, or other community venues, or if you'd prefer we can meet with you in privacy of your own home. We aim to provide a flexible, caring service to meet your needs.
‘Triple P' Positive Parenting Program
Bulkington Children's Centre has a family worker accredited in the 'Triple P' Positive Parenting Program. 'Triple P' is prevention-orientated, aiming to provide early intervention support, promoting positive caring relationships between parents/ carers and their children. 'Triple P' helps parents to develop effective management strategies for a variety of childhood behaviour problems and common developmental issues. 'Triple P' support is offered on a 1-to-1 basis tailored to each families needs.
The Nurturing Programme
As parents and carers, we all know that families are not always happy and calm. Living together can be frustrating, difficult, and hard work. The Nurturing Programme is a 10 week course that encourages parents and carers to enjoy bringing up children and to get the best out of family life. It helps us to understand how emotions influence our actions, and offers many positive practical ways of guiding children so they learn to handle both their feelings and their behaviour. The course also suggests ways of making us feel good, boosting both our self-esteem, and our children's.
Topics include:
- Giving and receiving praise,
- How to use ‘Time Out‘ effectively,
- Understanding ages & stages in children's development,
- Feelings and what to do with them.
Is this course for me?
- There are no essays to write, or coursework to do.
- The course is free to attend, and you receive a free copy of ‘The Parenting Puzzle' book which guides you through all the topics covered.
The Nurturing Programme is about helping children to grow up, and helping families to flourish.
